Problem Statement

 

Researchers need a compact platform to collect data from marine environments. They need a maintenance-free power source to energize their data sensors. As a result, we are providing a Data Buoy with a self-cleaning solar panel to power and house the data equipment.

Needs

• Energy collected from the sun on a clear day must be sufficient to power marine devices

• All electronics must be waterproof in saltwater

• Must be able to operate between 45 degrees and 110 degrees Fahrenheit air temperature

• The solar panel buoy system has no negative effects on ecosystems and the wildlife that inhabit them

• The design is free from patent infringements and code violations

• The solar panel buoy can be serviced

• The cleaning system clears debris from the solar panel surface
