Design Description

Visceral Design

We made the putter to have streamline shape without almost no corners to create a modern and elegant feel. The color choice and the side view of the putter was inspired by Flamingos, which we used to theme the putter. This was because our customer profile focused on warmer close-to-coast geographic areas.

Behavioral Design

We made our putter to have changeable swing feel by giving the function of changing weights and putter surface. The adjustable weights allows for the way the putter sets (the angle putter head settles when the shaft is placed on a flat surface horizontally).

In addition to the weight inserts, we designed interchangeable putter face inserts to change the feel of the put. We achieved this design by making the putter face inserts out of different materials with different densities, which changes the dampening of the vibration that travels up the shaft to the putter. This dampening causes the putting feel to change. The putter face inserts also has triangular grooves, which helps to put additional top spin for better performance.

Reflective Design

We made our putter to have three visual guidelines for lining up the putter. Two outside lines are the width of the ball and the center line helps the user to line up the putter to the cup. Changing the putter face inserts create different sounds due to the difference in material. This sound feedback allows the user to reflect on their performance and to adjust the putter. The design also hides the screws that holds the putter face inserts. This feature combined with the streamline shape of the putter face create a reflective feel of a solid, elegant and reliable putter.
