Extrusion Molding Aluminum

For the aluminum base piece, we designed our part to be manufactured through extrusion molding. However, for prototyping, we used a water jet to cut out our piece and used a CNC mill to do the post machining process. This is because Rose-Hulman does not have the capability to extrusion mold on campus.

Injection Molding Plastic

For the plastic pieces for our module, we designed it to be manufactured through injection molding. However, for prototyping, we used 3-D printer to make the plastic pieces. This is because Rose-Hulman does not have the capacity to injection mold on campus.

Cost estimation and design plausibility of our parts were evaluated using ProtoLab's quote service.
